Free release of IGI’s Norwegian Multiclient reports

On 8th May 2024, the Norwegian Ministry of Energy announced the 2024 APA Round with available acreage across the Norwegian North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea.

To celebrate this, IGI are pleased to release (for free!) our suite of multiclient interpretation reports across the whole Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Written from 2015-18, the reports are subdivided into 5 volumes covering key sub-areas of the NCS:

  1. Barents Sea (2015)

  2. Norwegian Sea (2016)

  3. Norway Central Graben (2017)

  4. Norway N. Viking Graben (2018)

  5. Norway S. Viking Graben (2018)

The reports incorporate thousands of samples (compiled by IGI and now freely available via the Norwegian Offshore Directorate Metis environment here), and are designed to provide a high-level summary of source rock quality, oil and gas geochemistry, and 1D basin modelling.

The intent is for these to provide regional perspectives on key elements of the petroleum system, before companies focus on prospect-scale appraisal studies. Each report contains the following structure:

  1. Source rock geochemistry
    • Overview of different lithostratigraphic groups
    • Evaluation of source rock potential by lithostratigraphic unit
    • Initial evaluation of source rock maturity
    • Key potential source intervals
    • Source characteristics for correlations
  2. Oil geochemistry
    • Sample integrity and alteration
    • Oil maturity
    • Oil sources and correlation
  3. Gas geochemistry
  4. 1-D basin modelling
    • Burial and thermal histories based on up to 20 models per sub-area
    • Regional evaluation

For prospect-scale appraisal, IGI Ltd. are ideally placed to provide cost-effective and insightful consultancy services, integrated with other G&G studies required for APA applications.
