General information

IGI has built up a strong reputation for working closely with our clients on projects at regional, basinal, licence and prospect scales. Our exploration-focused projects usually integrate the interpretation of geochemical data with basin/petroleum systems modelling, underpinned by a sound understanding of regional geology. Such integrated studies are our main speciality, but in some cases we perform purely petroleum geochemical studies – most notably in the characterization of hydrocarbons (oil and gas composition), for example in production and reservoir geochemical evaluation. We are currently also developing and expanding our detailed knowledge of oil & gas geochemistry for applications in environmental and forensic geochemistry studies. Geochemical data sets form the foundations of all our project work, and these are typically built using our Metis and p:IGI software as the first stage of each project using a combination of data provided by our client and those available in published or other public sources.

Commissioning project work

IGI normally provides a detailed fixed-price quotation for geochemical interpretation and petroleum systems modelling studies. As a first step, we will discuss the scope and objectives of the project with you, by telephone, WebEx or at a face-to-face meeting. We will normally request details of the data you have access to for the area of interest – particularly well data (reports, logs, etc.) and any geochemical and PVT reports, etc. We may also be able to identify additional sources of geochemical data (databases available for purchase, public datasets and published literature).
