David Gardiner will be presenting at the Norwegian Petroleum Society (NPF) Petroleum Systems Conference 2025
on 25th September.
The paper, in collaboration with Petrostrat and Geocosm , is entitled: “Under pressure: using basin models to help predict reservoir quality in the Garn Formation in the Norwegian Sea”
Focussing on the Middle Jurassic Garn Fm. in the Norwegian Sea, the talk will demonstrate that many of the key outputs from basin models built for predicting source rock maturation (i.e., burial-temp-pressure geohistories) are also critical inputs for reservoir modelling, controlling the composition, timing and extent of cementation in pore spaces. This is particularly challenging in an overpressured regime. The benefits of an integrated approach of modelling both source and reservoir together domains brings both technical consistency and time/cost efficiencies. The work also demonstrates the benefit of collaboration between complimentary, forward-thinking service companies within the energy industry.”
