Senior Geochemist/Basin Modeller
We are delighted to release version 3.0 of p:IGI+ and Metis. Version 3.0 is a major update; it’s been in development for over a year, it was previewed at our 2025 user group, and has been used in two training courses. It is perhaps the largest single update since p:IGI+ v1.0 was released over ten years ago.
What’s included:
- The p:IGI+ and Metis domain models have been extended to include sites. Now sites, boreholes and samples are embedded throughout the software suite.
o This means it’s easier to organise your data, especially samples that don’t originate from a borehole.
o Multiple boreholes can now be associated with a single site. Previously they were separate entities.
o In Metis and p:IGI+, site and borehole data can be edited and updated easily in the new site/borehole editor.
o Borehole stratigraphy and trajectories can be uploaded in Metis, managed and downloaded into p:IGI+.
- Project merge has been completely overhauled. Not only does it now show where merged samples differ but data conflicts can now be resolved and merged.
- The basic machine learning tool integration is available to all users at no additional cost. The basic version supports:
o Outlier detection
o Dimension reduction
o Linear regression
o Spatial interpolation
- Organisations have the option to upgrade to advanced machine learning tools which include:
o Advanced regression and classification methods
o Improved spatial interpolation models
o The novel Bayesian unmixing tool (e.g. for production allocation)
- Authentication in Metis has been improved; users will need to sign in less frequently.
- In Metis Discover, you can create customized sets of properties to export.
o Property sets can be saved and shared with colleagues.
Furthermore, we’ve revamped our online user-guide with specific how to guides, access them here:
- The different data model is not backwards compatible, p:IGI+ projects updated from v2.5 to v3.0 will not work in older versions of the software. Similarly, you cannot download data from Metis v3.0 to earlier versions of the p:IGI+.

Helen will be reaching out to the designated person(s) within each organisation to make sure the release is deployed and made available to all our users. We will also reach out to our Metis clients individually and coordinate the upgrade of your Metis environments.
